  1. Thank you for a very valuable contribution to help people like us who hunger to explore Philippines but hesitant. Milrose and Elmer

    1. Thanks for your insight, Ms. Milrose! We had the same sentiments before we traveled because we could not find any articles on land travel from Manila to Davao City. We wrote this specifically for first time land travelers. It’s a lot of fun and truly an adventure! As you can see, our blog consists of products we sell… but we could not resist sharing through this site the things we learned as we took the journey south. πŸ™‚ it is, indeed, more fun in the Philippines!

  2. OMG! Very informative! Me and hubby have been planning to travel the same route too! Thank you very much for the time and effort for sharing this article to us! Muchos gracias!

  3. Thank you for this post sir! May I ask if the roads were okay during your trip? I read in a forum that this route (as opposed to the batangas-mindoro-cebu-butuan route) has more rough roads but that was years ago. I’m hoping the roads are okay now. πŸ™‚

    1. hi, ms irene! yes, there were rough roads on some parts and there were areas with ongoing road constructions when we took the trip a year ago. it was bearable, tough. a GPS would really come in handy… though it’s not updated with ongoing road constructions and short detours. when in doubt, we didn’t hesitate to ask the people. and we also made sure we traveled during the day. πŸ™‚ thanks!

  4. Hi Rachel,

Planning to travel from Davao to Manila, so it’s the other way around :)….I’m quite familiar with the road condition from Matnog to Manila but can’t say the same from Davao City to Allen, N.Samar. Hope you could give me an idea to better prepare for this trip. Your article is great! Really helpful!, I’ve been to several articles before coming across yours.
Hope you can share this last bit of info. Yeah, I’m taking a sedan so I’m hoping that the road isn’t too bad from Davao City to Allen. Thanks.

  5. dear author..may we know po ano sasakyan ginamit?at gaano po kabilis takbo nyo?eheheh salamat po..kakayanin po kaya ng innova namin ang byahe? wala pa pati plaka..kabibili lang? salamat po…

    1. hi! nissan xtrail yung ginamit namin and wala pa din plate number that time. may mga nakasabay din kami along the road na kotse and we all made it sound and safe in Davao. your innova will do great as well… just bring photocopies of your documents. there are some areas sa highway na we can run for more than a 100km/hr but for most parts we have to slow down, alalay talaga kasi maraming biglang nagkocross sa daan… especially along samar/leyte route. thanks and have a safe trip!

  6. Eto ang pinaka bonggang travel guide for Mnla-Dvo trip by land! Detalyado, hinimay himay pati Roro fees, may timeline at least we have idea of transit times. Thank you for this. If you could also include how much you spent on your fuel for entire trip please πŸ™‚

  7. Good Day!

This is such a good read and we’re so glad you posted. Naka ilang gas stops po kayo?

Do you have any idea as to what the cost for diesel fueled vans and or SUV’s may cost?

    Thanks and keep it up.

    Vicente
